Q: #60. What is the Roman Road?

     A: When a Christian is using the Bible to lead an unsaved person to the Lord, most or all of the verses are generally found in the book of Romans. Romans pretty much contains every verse that one needs to understand in order to be saved (although I believe we need to stress the repentance verses found in some other books as well.) The following is the “Roman Road.”

(Rom 3:10) as it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:

(Rom 3:23) for all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

(Rom 5:8) But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

(Rom 6:23) For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

(Rom 10:9-10) that if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. (10) For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

(Rom 10:13) For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

***Note: “Lord” = “God” in (Rom 10:9,13). Understanding the deity of Jesus is crucial to salvation.

     If the unsaved person understands and accepts these things, and is willing to repent, the next step is usually for the unsaved person “call” upon the Lord in prayer and commit his / her life to Jesus. (The person witnessing to them can help walk them through this prayer if necessary.)

     There is going to be more to the witnessing process than just showing 7 verses in Romans, but these verses are foundational.

     If you would like to see this all laid out in greater detail, or if you aren’t saved, and would like to commit your life to Christ today, please go here.
