New Testament Survey is a class that is offered for new students at many Christian colleges. Years ago, I took this class at a church I used to attend, and I enjoyed it so much, I made my own to teach for home Bible Study and Sunday School. My teacher called it the 30,000 foot view of the New Testament. In other words, this is not meant to be an exhaustive study of each book in the New Testament, but rather, it is an overview. Each Survey will cover topics such as:

Author: Who wrote the book, how do we know he wrote it, and what do we know about the author?

The Stats: How many chapters and verses does the book contain?

Date Written: When was the book written, and how do we know it was written then?

Place Written: Where was it written from, and how do we know?

Written To: Who was the book written to?

Key Verses: What are some key verses in each book? (We will spend most of our time here, looking at, and discussing these verses.)

Purpose: Why did the author write the book?

Special Emphasis: What words and concepts are emphasized in each book?

Survey: An outline of each book.

     In addition, there will be other topics covered pertaining to each book.

     Each book in the Survey was originally meant to be covered in a single class (about an hour). However, after years of teaching this class, I have moved towards “slowing it down” a little. As we spend more time discussing the “key verses,” the time to complete each book in the Survey has increased to about 2-3 weeks. I pray these studies will bless you.
