A: Since the Bible is silent on this issue, it is obviously impossible to know the answer to this question. However, the vast majority of scholars speculate, based upon several verses, that Judas is now in Hell. The Bible says Judas was a “devil” (Jn 6:70-71), that “Satan entered into Judas” (Lk 22:3)(Jn 13:26-27,2) (which if taken literally points to him not being a Christian: see Q: #251.), that Judas was a “thief” (Jn 12:6), that it would have been better for Judas if he had never been born (Mt 26:24)(Mk 14:21), that none who had been given to Jesus had been lost but the “son of perdition” (Jn 17:12), and Peter said that after Judas died he went “to his own place” (NIV = to “where he belongs”). Judas is also listed last in the lists of disciples (Mt 10:2-4)(Mk 3:16-19)(Lk 6:14-16).
On the other hand, we see in (Mt 10:1-42)(Mk 3:13-19) that Judas was one of the 12 who was sent out to preach the Gospel, heal the sick, raise the dead, and cast out demons. We also see in (Mt 27:3-10) that after his betrayal of Jesus, Judas “repented himself” (KJV) (most other versions use “felt remorse”) over what he had done saying, “I have sinned in that I have betrayed innocent blood.” He returned the 30 pieces of silver he had received for betraying Jesus, and killed himself.
There are also a few who say that Judas actually believed so much in who Jesus was that he betrayed Him to “push” him into taking His role as the “king” the Jews were expecting, and to overthrow the present Roman government.
The evidence for Judas being in Hell seems pretty overwhelming, but we cannot know this for sure.
