Q: #434. Where did the 12 disciples die?
By: Steve Shirley
A: The Bible tells us that both James (Son of Zebedee - brother of John) and Judas Iscariot died in Jerusalem. James was murdered by Herod Agrippa I (Acts 12:1-2), and Judas committed suicide in the "field of Akeldama," which was just outside the walls of Jerusalem (Acts 1:18-19)(Mt 27:3-10). The rest we can only know from historical writings and tradition. However, except for the last three on the chart, there is fairly strong consensus amongst scholars on where they died. None are known with absolute certainty though.
|John (*natural death)||Ephesus|
|James (Son of Zebedee)||Jerusalem|
|Bartholomew/Nathanael||India (Some say Armenia)|
|Simon (The Zealot)||England|
|James (Son of Alphaeus)||Egypt|
