Forgiveness ONLY Through The Blood Of Jesus

By: Steve Shirley

One of the biggest and most dangerous lies this world believes is, "I will go to heaven when I die because I am good and I do good things." This is a lie that will lead someone straight to Hell. The Bible tells us we are ALL sinners and NONE of us is good (see: Are You A Sinner?). Among the sins God hates most is pride. When you die and appear at judgment, if you try and explain how you were better than other people (pride), you will be condemned. The standard we are judged against is not other people, but God Himself, this is why we fall short. (Prov 14:12) says: "There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death." (Also see: Prov 16:25)

The Bible says that blood cleanses (Lev 17:11)(Heb 9:22). It is hard for many to understand that our sin is so abhorrent to God that blood had to be shed in order for forgiveness to occur. This is exactly what the Bible says, however, and it was why Jesus died on the cross. Jesus said in (Matt 26:28), "For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins." (Rom 5:8-9) tells us that we are justified and saved from God's wrath through the blood. A great way to understand the word justified is, justified = Just as if I'd (never sinned). When we come to Christ and give our life to Him, our sins are covered with the blood and we start a new life. Jesus called this being "born again" (Jn 3:3). We are made the righteousness of God through Christ. (2 Cor 5:21) says: "For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him." What an AWESOME thing! (Isa 1:18) explains it like this: "Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool."

Jesus laid down His life for YOU! Are you willing to allow Him to pay the price for your sin? See our Plan of Salvation link and do so today.

(Col 1:14) In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins.

(Eph 1:7) In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace.

(Heb 10:16-19) This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds I will write them; (17) And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more. (18) Now where remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin. (19) Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus.

(1 Jn 1:7) But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his son cleanseth us from all sin.

(Rev 1:5) And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood.

(Col 1:20) And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.

A great parallel to the saving blood of Jesus blood is found in (Exodus 12) in the Old Testament. It commemorates that holy day we now call Passover. In short, when the final plague was sent against a rebellious Pharaoh, it called for the firstborn of all families of the city to die. However, God made a way for His people to be saved. An unblemished lamb (picturing Jesus: 1 Pet 1:18-19) was to be killed and its blood put over the doorposts of their homes. The destroying angel would "passover" these homes because the blood saved them. It did not matter who was inside, the destroyer saw the blood, not the people. What a great picture for us now!
